Description
The Cry Baby BB535 Multi-Wah Reissue by Dunlop
The Dunlop Cry Baby BB535 Multi-Wah Reissue is a faithful recreation of the original 1990s BB535, widely regarded as one of the first truly versatile “multi-wah” pedals. It was designed to give guitarists greater tonal control than traditional wah pedals, allowing them to shape frequency range and gain to suit different playing styles. The reissue preserves the original’s distinctive, throaty and vocal-like character by using vintage-style circuitry and a custom inductor matched to the original design. At the same time, it adds modern improvements such as LED indicators and a buffered signal path for better usability on contemporary pedalboards. With its built-in boost and selectable voicings, it can cover everything from classic wah sounds to more aggressive, high-gain tones. Overall, it’s aimed at players who want both vintage tone and flexible sound-shaping in a single pedal.
Specs:
• Type: Analog wah pedal (multi-voicing)
• Circuit: Through-hole, vintage-style signal path
• Inductor: Custom 535mH inductor (replicates original tone)
• Frequency Selector: 6-position range selector for different wah voicings
• Boost Circuit: Switchable, based on MXR Micro Amp design
• Boost Gain: Up to approx. +16 dB
• Input: High-impedance buffered input (prevents tone loss)
• Bypass: Buffered bypass design
• Controls: Wah treadle, range selector, boost level control
• Indicators: LED for wah on/off and boost status
• Power: 9V battery or standard 9V DC power supply (typical for Cry Baby pedals)
• Construction: Heavy-duty metal housing
