Combining bold design and killer tone, the Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass is a serious instrument that demands attention. Featuring an eye-catching Silver Sparkle finish, black painted headstock, sleek maple neck and vintage-style pickups, it’s a distinctive instrument befitting Mikey’s unique vision and style as bassist of My Chemical Romance.

’70S SINGLE-COIL JAZZ BASS PICKUPS Powerful vintage-style pickups allow you to access the classic sounds that defined an epic era of rock.

DAZZLING SILVER SPARKLE FINISH Primed for the spotlight, this finish is sure to turn heads, especially when paired with a black pickguard and headstock.

’70S “C”-SHAPED MAPLE NECK Remarkably comfortable, a ’70s “C-”-shaped neck profile is easy to maneuver for high-octane gigs and speedy riffs.

SHOW-STOPPING STYLE The Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass is perfect for anyone who wants to channel the genre-bending sound that made Way a giant in the worlds of pop, punk, emo and beyond.

You can’t look away from the stunning Silver Sparkle finish on the balanced alder body, as it glimmers from every angle. A black pickguard, black block inlays and black painted headstock add a sinister tone fit for any rock opera.

A set of vintage-style ’70s single-coil Jazz Bass pickups deliver versatile tones with Way’s trademark punch to cut through the mix, while a vintage-style 4-saddle bridge and “Bullet” style truss rod nut offer rock-solid tuning stability and easy adjustments.

The vintage appointments continue with a ’70s “C”-shaped neck profile sculpted for a comfortable playing feel — thinner at the first fret and thicker at the twelfth — 20 medium jumbo frets and a 9.5'' radius bound fingerboard. Open-gear tuning machines are also stamped with the Fender logo.

All in all, everything came together in a package perfectly suited to Way’s preferences. "It’s as if the bass jumped straight from my dreams into reality,” he said. “It’s my most favorite instrument I’ve ever played.”

Whether you’re an MCR diehard or a player looking for a brilliant new addition to your collection, the Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass is an instrument created to take every performance to the next level.

Fender Teams up with Mikey Way to create Vintage ‘70S Inspired Signature Jazz Bass - Bass Guitar Review

bassguitarreview.co.uk

Fender's Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass is a striking tribute to the '70s, boasting a dazzling silver sparkle finish and a well-balanced sound thanks to its alder body and vintage-style pickups. With a comfortable neck profile designed for modern playability, it caters to both die-hard fans and new players alike. However, at a price point of $1,499, it might not fit all budgets, and some may find it a bit flashy for their taste. While it excels in aesthetics and performance, potential buyers should weigh the cost against their needs. Overall, it’s a captivating instrument that captures Mikey Way's essence while offering solid functionality.

Very solid bass, beautiful tone

The 70's style setup makes for a great feel, the pickups cover a very nice range, gets that iconic vintage Jazz Bass tone with a bridge pickup bias. Aesthetically incredible, black block inlays, binding and headstock perfectly contrast the maple neck and Silver Sparkle finish. Would absolutely buy again.

Used by Way on the My Chemical Romance Reunion Tour between 2019 and 2023. This bass was likely also used when recording The Foundations Of Decay. The example Way used was actually produced by Fender Custom Shop, however finished to the exact spec of the production version, with the exception of chrome pickup and bridge covers, which Way took off anyway.

4 alternative and related items for Fender Limited-edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass, curated by the Equipboard community.

Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz

$1,158.11 - $1,599.99

similar sound cheaper alternative

This bass was designed very similarly to the Geddy Lee, as Mikey Way had used a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass for about 20 years beforehand, thus was a good starting point for his limited edition signature.

2001 American Designer Jazz Bass

similar sound high-end alternative limited edition

This bass heavily inspired this model, released in 2001 as a Guitar Center exclusive, Mikey Way used one from 2002 until 2003 when it was lost after a gig. The only obvious difference between the two is the Rosewood fingerboard, but aside from that and the different pickups, the two are virtually identical, this model was also produced in the USA, as opposed to the Mikey Way version being produced in Mexico.

Fender Vintera 70's Jazz Bass

$1,099.99 - $1,454.06

similar sound cheaper alternative

This Fender Vintera model features a very similar pickup set and styling cues, with the obvious exception of the Pau Ferro fretboard and woodgrain headstock, unlike the Mikey Way model's Maple board and blackout headstock. Would make a great alternative at a lower price.

Fender American Performer Precision Bass

$1,214.05 - $1,579.99

similar sound high-end alternative

The American Performer Precision Bass makes a good alternative for anybody trying to replicate Mikey Way's style, with a Punchy Precision Pickup and that Iconic Jazz Bass bridge pickup, you can really replicate any era of Way's playing. This model is also produced in the USA, providing higher build quality.
