Description
What makes the Hahn Model 112 special
The Model 112 is the first original body design from Hahn Guitars , developed over two years (in collaboration with Walter Becker) with the goal of creating a “new classic” capable of covering many genres.
It combines familiar ergonomic traits (bolt-on maple neck, alder body, double-cutaway form, S-style bevels) that feel comfortable to players used to classic guitars, but with a very different tonal character thanks to custom pickups and hardware.
The pickup configuration (custom P-90s, and in some builds even a middle “gold-foil” single-coil) gives it a broad tonal palette: bright, clean and chime-like but also capable of growl, dynamics and rich midrange ,somewhere between a Strat, a Tele and a P-90-equipped slab body.
Build quality and finish: handcrafted in small batches, with careful wood selection (alder body, maple neck) and a thin nitro-cellulose lacquer finish to maximize resonance and give a classy, boutique-guitar feel.
Versatility: described by reviewers as a “workhorse” guitar , suitable for clean, jazzy tones, rock, blues, even more aggressive overdriven sounds , making it a great “do-it-all” instrument rather than a one-style niche guitar.
In short: the Model 112 stands out because it merges familiar playability and ergonomics with a unique voice , giving you vintage-leaning P-90 grit, single-coil clarity, and modern build quality all in one instrument.
Specs:
• Body: Alder, double-cutaway solid body.
• Neck: Maple bolt-on neck, .85–.87" deep “C” contour.
• Fingerboard: Rosewood (or maple depending on version), medium-jumbo frets.
• Scale length: 25.5" (standard scale)
• Bridge: Custom “H” bridge (cold-rolled steel) , optionally top-load or through-body stringing; compensated brass saddles.
• Tuners: Gotoh / Kluson-style tuners.
• Pickups: Typically custom P-90s (neck + bridge), sometimes with middle “gold-foil” single-coil option , 5-way switching possible.
• Controls: One volume, one tone; 3- or 5-way selector depending on pickup configuration.
• Finish: Thin nitrocellulose lacquer (≈ 25 coats) , enhances resonance and feels high-end.
• Weight: Typically between ~6 ¾ and ~7 ½ lbs (≈ 3.1–3.4 kg) depending on build.

This image, posted on the hahnguitars Instagram account in July 2022, shows Taylor Momsen with her custom Hahn Model 112 Guitar. The finish of the guitar is a very light, yellowish green (better seen in this image: https://tvovermind.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Taylor-Momsen-musical-career.jpg) It has one esquire wired single coil in the bridge position.
The guitar previously belonged Momsen's long time friend, late producer and songwriter Kato Kandwhala.
