Description

The Ibanez SR306EB-WK is a sleek, 6-string electric bass that masterfully blends craftsmanship with innovation, making it a perfect companion for both budding bassists and seasoned professionals. At the heart of this instrument is its 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck, which not only ensures durability but also provides smooth playability across its 24 medium frets. The Nyatoh body adds a resonant warmth to your sound, while the Jatoba fretboard, adorned with elegant pearl dot inlays, offers a silky feel under your fingertips.

What sets the SR306EB-WK apart is its tonal flexibility, courtesy of the Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ paired with a 3-way Power Tap switch. This combination allows you to sculpt your sound with pinpoint precision, switching seamlessly between traditional rich tones and modern bright clarity. The dual PowerSpan coil pickups further enhance your sonic palette, giving you the power to command any musical genre with ease.

Completing this versatile package is the sturdy Accu-Cast B120 bridge, which provides excellent string stability and sustain. With black hardware that complements its overall aesthetic, the SR306EB-WK isn’t just an instrument—it's a statement of your musical identity. Whether you’re laying down thunderous grooves or delicate melodies, this bass is crafted to inspire.

Not fantastic

I will begin with a little disclaimer:

I do not like 6 string basses. They make my wrist hurt like hell and I do think that the top C string is unnecessary in almost all circumstances - go for a 5 string.

Now, that aside, I am not a huge fan of this bass. The construction is reasonably good (although the treble pot on mine has broken), and for the most part, the hardware seems reasonably high quality. The issue comes when you plug it in. The bass, to put it plainly, sounds rather cheap. There are numerous settings you can toggle to create a sound you like - however the problem arises when none of those sounds are that good. They either sound muffled and boomy or too thin.

I hold on to it as in all fairness it is one of the better 6 string basses for the price (a little under £350) and who knows? That top C string may come in handy one day or another. However, for any potential purchasers, I would recommend either spending a little more money on a better 6 string alternative, or perhaps just get a 5 string instead.

Thanks for your time.
