Mods and upgrades

  • Owners often replace tuners with super light models to address neck dive issues.

    Source
  • Replacing the P pickup with a Fender Vintage AM '63 and switching to a passive volume/volume/tone setup is popular among owners seeking better tone.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The TMB100 lacks a tone knob, and its 2-band EQ is frequently described as ineffective.

    Source

Build quality

  • The hardware, specifically tuners, knobs, and nut, might not be durable long-term, but these parts are inexpensive to upgrade.

    Source
  • Some owners mention the bass has a thick poly finish which can be brittle over time.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • It's crucial to unplug the cable from the bass jack when not in use to prevent the 9v battery from draining.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • A wide, comfortable strap is recommended to counteract neck dive and prevent shoulder strain.

Ibanez Talman TMB100 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Ibanez TMB100 Talman Bass offers remarkable value for its price, impressing with its solid construction and vintage-inspired design. While its aesthetics may feel a tad plain, the bass compensates with comfort and playability. The simple electronics provide a warm, rounded tone, and the EQ options add depth and clarity, especially for slap and pick styles. Despite the need for string replacement and some minor setup tweaks, it's a reliable performer for budget-conscious musicians seeking a versatile bass. Overall, the TMB100 is a pleasant surprise that stands out in its price range.

Solid

Decent bass. Has a nice neck and has a pretty vintage aesthetic. Replaced all the electronics and took out the bridge pickup. The Active electronics are fine but I prefer a more bare bones pb style layout.
