Description
The UV7 is a solid body electric guitar made by Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. It is part of the Universe series, the 7-string signature series of guitarist Steve Vai. It has all the usual features of a UV model: a basswood body, DiMarzio Blaze II pickups and a double locking tremolo. First year's models have an Edge 7 tremolo that was replaced in 1991 for the Lo Pro Edge 7. The color scheme of the UV7 is based on that of the JEM777V BK.

John Petrucci can be seen holding this guitar in the source photograph. He also uses this guitar in the video for "Lie".
In this YouTube video at 3:19, 8:31, Wes can be seen using a previously black sanded 7 string Ibanez type guitar with green inlays and HSH pickups that used to be green. The bridge is a Lo Pro Edge 7. Judging by overall layout of the knobs, switches, and pickguard holes, I determine that this is an Ibanez UV7. The pickguard was removed and cut, and an extra switch was added between the volume knobs (top hats are missing). An extra piece of a pearl pickguard was added between the pickups.
You can see Fredrik playing his taped-up 90s Ibanez UV7 at around 2:31. This was one of Fredrik's main 7-string guitars before he switched to using 8 strings.
