Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Jackson JS32-8.

Setup and maintenance

  • 26.5" scale length struggles with tuning stability below F#; a 0.80 gauge string may not fit the nut, requiring modification.

    Source
  • Owners report needing to file the nut and drill the tuning peg for the lowest string to accommodate heavier gauges for improved tension.

    Source
  • For low tunings like Drop E or F, a string gauge of 10-80 is recommended, though modifications may be needed for proper fit.

Comparisons

  • Schecter C-8 Deluxe with 28" scale is preferred for lower tunings compared to the JS32-8's 26.5" scale.

    Source
  • Players suggest considering Harley Benton multiscale 8s for better playability and scale length, but note potential quality control issues with these models.

    Source

  • Some users consider swapping the stock pickups for D Activators, noting improvements in tone, especially for metal genres like those played by Whitechapel.

    Source
  • Owners suggest upgrading to Dimarzio D Activator pickups for clearer tone in djenty styles, improving the muddy sound issue with stock pickups.

My experience with Jackson JS32-8Q

I've always loved the Jackson's necks, so I risked and bought this guitar blindly. Right when I started playing on it, I felt this relief of "not screwing up", but even the contrary. I tested a lot of 8-string guitars, but this one is the best in it's price range - great manifacturing, very comfortable neck, especially if you're into shredding - Jackson were always amongst the top notch in this category and this guitar makes no exception. Totally recommend!

P

DKA for Dinkey Very easy to play 8 strings thick & large neck, try it and you will feel another emotions

Don't be afraid of this 8 strings guitar because it's easy to play on its very thin neck even quickly ! Something very interesting in this neck, ultra thin and easily playable even for neophyte or experimented, and pickups are quite powerful when used with amps like Mesa Boogie Dual or Tri Rectified and great cabs that sound. I recommend you to try it in in a store, with a Bass Amp and 4x10 or more 8x10 cabinet, just to realize the power of this kind of guitar in bass frequencies ... surprising !!!! Great job from Jackson on this thin neck reinforced with carbon fiber ! Something is very strange , I often listen to the noise of the strings across the neck, and you can hear the strings ringing very loud and with a sustain in the thin maple neck with its rosewood fret-board (dalbergia latifolia) (12"-16" radius, 24 jumbo frets, 673 mm scale)
