Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Jet City Amplification 333 100HDM Head.

Features and functionality

  • The JCA50H is considered a rough clone of a JCM800, but some users feel it resembles the JCM900 due to higher gain and earlier break-up stages.

    Source
  • Jet City amps have high-level effects loops that may cause pedal clipping; using a volume knob pedal can mitigate this issue.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Performing SLO and depth mods on the JCA50 or JCA100 can significantly enhance sound quality, bringing it closer to high-end models.

    Source
  • A $20 mod kit from Epic Tone can resolve effects loop problems, with installation options available from AmpFactory for $25.

    Source
  • Factory-installed FX loop mods won't void the warranty and can be easily reversed if desired.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners note the amp can be versatile but requires tweaking to dial in the desired tone, especially for stoner/desert rock styles.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Replacing original tubes and modifying circuits to reduce overwiring can improve performance and eliminate noise issues.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • It's ideal for stoner/doom genres when paired with fuzz pedals like Big Muff or Rat, offering a robust base tone for pedal-driven distortion.

    Source
  • Using a rack unit for reverb and effects is recommended for the stock Jet City/Soldano loops instead of extensive modding.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The JCA100 LTD is available for the same price as the JCA50 from certain retailers, with mod options included.

    Source
  • The JCA22C model is priced at $297 shipped, significantly less than other retail prices.

Kickass amp for the price

the only thing i dislike about this amp is that it doesn't have a clean channel, though its not the biggest deal because i almost never use a clean channel. I have yet only tried it with one cab and with that one it sounded very bright, but what i've read about the cab (jet city 24+), they are very bright sounding

jimmarchi1

the soldano clean is nothing to write home about and the jet city clean is similar only even elss impressive. If you find yourself needing a really clean tone, get a head switcher, a blackface showman or something hiwatty if you need clean. The real deal Soldano SLO100 is bright as all heck, but in a good way. You will likely get used to it. It fills out with the master volumes opened up past noon. You will also find a quad of G12m greenbacks/creambacks (depending on how far you like to open the master up) or G12m65 speakers with the large dustcap will tame it and give it an even more 80s Marshall sound. It will probably also sound good with some 70s/80s Fane 50 watt speakers, but I am all into those lately. Stay away from vintage30s with this amp unless you intend to play really loud, same goes for G12H30 greenbacks, even the 55hz model. You may like the Emminence Legend V12s with this amp, its a Brit mutt with some Celestion qualities and some Fane qualities, handles a lot of power so a 2x12 could handle your full 100 watts without difficulty. They are also super cheap. A pair will run you about 120 bucks new including shipping. I hope that helps.

My plan was on getting a Mesa Boogie 4x12

jimmarchi1

get the rectifier oversized 4x12, all other current production mesa 4x12s sound like cardboard... and change the speakers too.

flurp

I'll see what i can get, ill get that 4x12 that i can. I i still do not think i am going to change the speakers. Also, i mostly play melodic death metal, if that changes anything

Zacky Vengeance is sponsored by Jet City Amplification, and uses as Jet City 333 amp. The amp has "a 100 watt and 50 watt switch on them. So they're pretty cool for bands that don't have iso cabs. We've got iso cabs, so we leave it on the 100 watt setting 'cause it doesn't matter how loud it gets," Veangence's guitar tech says at (16:50).
