Description
The new Lee McKinney LM6X signature headless guitar combines the aesthetic of the single-cutaway Zeus Series and the double-cutaway Osiris Series in one complete instrument, ideally suited for any genre of playing. It features a beveled body, which not only looks great, but makes playing very comfortable. The double-cutaway body itself is roughly the same size as the Vader Series, but because of the different shape, the tuners on the Kiesel/Hipshot tremolo are protected from accidental bumping, as they are recessed into the lower bout.
The LM6X has a weight-reducing and resonant chambered swamp ash body with a standard 4A flamed maple top. Selected body wood, top wood and finish options are available on the LM6X. Like the Zeus and Osiris models, the flamed maple top doesn't completely cover the top of the body; it's carved and shaped to follow the body beveling and tuner cutaway, which makes for an interesting look, different from our other models. All of the Custom Shop's neck and fingerboard woods undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting, and our woods are carefully hand-selected and inspected to ensure your new LM6X will be free of natural defects.
The LM6X has a bolt-on Eastern hardrock maple neck. Many players prefer the tone and articulation of a bolt-on neck; the trade-off for this has always been a "clunky" neck heel, but like all Kiesel Guitars bolt-neck instruments, the LM6X has a minimal, sculpted neck heel with recessed bolts that allows easy access high on the fingerboard. If you like, you can choose from selected Custom Shop optional multi-laminate 3, 5 and 7-piece necks.
LM6X Lee McKinney Signature InlayThe LM6X features a standard 25.5" scale ebony fingerboard with offset white pearl dot inlays, and a 20" radius with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, and glow-in-the-dark Luminlay SuperBlue side dots. You can choose from a wide assortment of fingerboard options, including birdseye maple, flamed maple, royal ebony or purpleheart fingerboards and assorted inlay shapes in abalone, Luminlay or acrylic colors. Exclusive to the LM6X is our new optional Lee McKinney signature inlay, which consists of staggered offset dots and 12th fret LM logo, which is available in our acrylic colors.
Stainless steel jumbo frets are standard, with jumbo gold EVO fretwire optional. The standard neck radius is 20", with 14" optional. The "Rapid Play" low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the lower cutaway and minimal neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret. The fully-adjustable dual action truss rod allows you to set the action exactly the way you want it. The Dual High Modulus Carbon Fiber Rods keep the neck stable allowing you to play your guitar, not constantly adjust it.
The Kiesel-designed Hipshot™ tremolo system bridge with knob tuners is standard. The bridge and other hardware is finished in black, for classic looks and ease of care.
The LM6X comes equipped with Kiesel humbuckers as well as acoustic saddles. In the bridge position, our popular Lithium Series humbucker, and in the bridge position, our new Lee McKinney Illusionist humbucker, which features a more aggressive tone than the Lithium bridge humbucker. Standard pickup colors are black coils, with cream or white coils available. Electronics consist of a volume control for the humbuckers, volume control for the acoustic saddles, with a mini-toggle switch for selecting humbuckers, acoustic or both, and a 5-way blade selector for selecting different humbucker coils. There is no tone control.
Kiesel Guitars also offers other headless models, such as the Zeus Z6 and Osiris O6, both of which share some of the characteristics of the LM6X. Like the LM6X, the Zeus and Osiris models can be fully customized with Kiesel Guitars' complete selection of Custom Shop options.
