Spider Valve MKII HD100 Review | Line 6 | Guitar Amplifiers | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Line 6 Spider Valve Mk II HD100 is a mixed bag, offering a versatile "Swiss army amp" experience better than many modeling amps, but its digital tone isn't for everyone. While praised for its affordability and features, it's not ideal for traditional rock or metal enthusiasts. This amp appeals more to players seeking something different, but its sound might not satisfy purists.

Line 6 Spider Valve HD100 MkII Amplifier Review

gear-vault.com

The Line 6 Spider Valve MkII HD100 combines the technological prowess of Line 6 with the tube expertise of Reinhold Bogner, resulting in a versatile amp ideal for both studio recording and live performances. It excels in offering a comprehensive range of tones, from saturated high-gain to sparkling clean jazz sounds, all while maintaining rich tube characteristics. The convenient XLR out and dual output modes make it a practical choice for quiet recording sessions. However, some purists might still scoff at its digital modeling roots. Overall, it’s a powerful tool for modern guitarists seeking flexibility and quality in one package.

The king of versatility

It's a cool-sounding app itself but it also offers a huge variety of digital effects and various combinations. They sound not worse than analogue and save you a buck on guitar pedals. I like the look, leather upholstery with the transparent plastic element that glows blue. I don't get the hate towards Line 6 amps. Maybe some variations of distortion are messy, like the high-gain preset here but if you don't overdo it, it sounds cool.

What other gear appeared during the album sessions?

Migliore: We mainly play through Line 6 Spider Valves—especially on tour. They’re great, because you can get so many different sounds straight from the amp. I still think it’s amazing that they’re digital amps and sound so good.

“ We played through some of them at a couple stores on our last tour and were amazed at how they sounded, and the fact that they have a full tube pre and power amp section gives them the balls we wanted in an amp. They also offer D.I. outs and MIDI in and out.”
