Malekko's B:Assmaster pedal impresses as a modern tribute to the rare Maestro Bass Brassmaster, offering a wide range of musically meaningful tones. With its minimalistic design of three knobs and two switches, it balances distortion and dry signal effectively, though the dry sound is compressed yet harmonically rich. The Sensitivity knob's dual role as an expander/gate and high-pass filter adds versatility. Despite its quirky design and humor, this pedal stands out as a top-tier bass distortion device.

The Malekko Barker Assmaster is a modern, rugged take on the classic Maestro Bass Brassmaster, delivering versatile fuzz tones for bass, guitar, and synth enthusiasts. The pedal's intuitive controls allow for a wide range of sonic possibilities, from controlled vintage fuzz to wild, industrial sounds. Its true bypass ensures a clean signal when the effect is off, and the ability to blend clean and fuzz signals offers great flexibility for bassists. While its bright pink and brown design might not appeal to everyone, the Assmaster's build quality and addictive sound make it a must-try for fuzz lovers.

"So far we think it’s been working really well. I personally have been using a combination of Empress Super delay, EH Micro Pog and Malekko ASSMaster on the bass, in order to create stacks of octaves that allow me to fill up the space missing from the recordings. I feed that signal to a dedicated guitar amp, as opposed to my bass amp, in order to make the mixing job easier."
