Mellotron Micro Module Hands-On Review – Synthtopia

synthtopia.com

The Mellotron Micro Module brings the classic Mellotron sound in a compact, keyboardless form, but its practicality is mixed. While the $500 price tag makes it accessible for many, the use of 3.5 mm MIDI jacks instead of the more traditional 5 pin DIN can be a letdown for some. It’s great for studio use but might pose challenges on the road due to these connectivity choices. The inability to expand with CF cards and reliance on Micro SD storage could be limiting for those seeking extensive libraries. While the sound quality is praised, the design choices feel like a compromise, leaving it a niche product rather than a universal must-have.
