Description

Experience the evolution of sound with the Korg Minilogue XD, a hybrid synthesizer that fuses both analog and digital technologies. Building upon the success of the original Korg Minilogue, the XD version features an expanded digital multi-engine, onboard digital effects, a robust sequencer, and the ability to micro-tune, making it a formidable tool in the hands of both beginners and professional musicians.

The Korg Minilogue XD is a four-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer, boosted by Korg’s digital multi-engine. The digital multi-engine introduces a third oscillator in addition to the two analog VCOs, providing an array of sound generators including noise, VPM, and user slots. The sound spectrum varies from the warm pads typical of analog to fat basses and crisp lead sounds.

The synthesizer comes equipped with high-quality digital effects that use 32-bit floating point DSP processing, adding a finishing touch to its deep sound design platform. The three types of effects - modulation, reverb, and delay -

Critic Reviews

Korg Minilogue XD

soundonsound.com

The Korg Minilogue XD blends the best of its predecessors with new digital capabilities, offering a rich palette of sounds from lush pads to punchy leads. Its hybrid architecture impresses with the inclusion of a digital Multi Engine and enhanced effects section, allowing for greater sonic experimentation. However, it stumbles with its limited modulation options and a convoluted sequencer that lacks transposition capabilities. While the user-friendly interface and superb sound design make it a worthy addition to any setup, the omitted features from the Prologue may leave some longing for more. Overall, the XD stands as a powerful, yet imperfect synth for both novices and seasoned players alike.

positive

Korg Minilogue XD review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Korg Minilogue XD is a powerhouse of versatility, blending advanced features like the Multi-Engine and extensive effects with a user-friendly interface. Its robust build is complemented by a new joystick for seamless pitch control and dynamic performance. The upgraded sequencer and enhanced effects section elevate it above its predecessors. However, it's not without flaws: the limited filter options and absence of a low-cut switch may disappoint some users. Overall, the XD is a compelling choice for both seasoned synth enthusiasts and newcomers seeking a rich sonic palette.

Korg Minilogue XD Review - Huge Win For Korg

keyboardkraze.io

The Korg Minilogue XD is a synth that masterfully blends analog and digital capabilities, delivering powerful oscillators and an impressive array of sounds. Its sleek design and 360-degree joystick control enhance the playing experience, making it a standout for both studio and live settings. However, the compact keys may frustrate traditional pianists, and the arpeggiator lacks full programmability. Despite these minor drawbacks, the XD triumphs as an exceptional value in its price range, proving hard to beat for aspiring synth enthusiasts. In a nutshell, it's a versatile and affordable powerhouse that will likely dominate the synth landscape for years to come.

probably the best synth for its price

I love this synth. It’s unbeatable in its price range and really versatile. The only thing I don’t like is that the modulation possibilities are quite limited, and the onboard effects sound not that great. But that’s nothing unexpected for the price. I always come back to this synth.

Impressive synth at a reasonable price

I bought this years ago as my first synthesizer, after seeing a lot of demos and artists that I like using a Minilogue. The XD is, to my knowledge, an upgrade on what was the classic Minilogue, with an added "Multi Engine" that serves as an additional digital oscillator, a nice and improved sequencer as well as a plethora of digital effects.

And with all that, it is pretty user-friendly, which pushes you to create your own sounds even if you're new to synths. Playing with it is fun, and there's still a lot of menus where you can find a lot of settings to tweak if you want to go deeper, but it never feels boring.

A jack of all trades at an affordable price (for what it is of course).

A highly versatile synth!

KORG knocked it out of the park with the Minilogue XD - Polyphonic Analog synthesizer. Big sounds in a somewhat smaller package!

Let me say that if you're looking for a great, versatile option in a synth that wont break the bank and will work for live shows as well as in the studio, look no farther than the Korg Minilogue XD.

This is an impressive 4 voice polyphonic analog/digital synthesizer. This synth incorporates some of the best features of their Monologue, Prologue and Minilogue synths all into one.

KORG is expanding their original design with a digital, multi-engine, onboard digital effects, improved sequencer and micro tuning. The improvements over the original Minilogue make this synth well worth considering.

You can find one in mint condition for around $475 USD or there have been sales at retailers for $600 USD new. The build quality is decent, the minikeys of the keyboard feels adequate and not overly cheap. Keep in mind they are synth keys on a sub $750 dollar synth.

I'm a fan of synths that offer a good bang-for-the-buck. This one definitely does just that. So many things to like and not a lot of dislikes with this synthesizer.

Small sized giant

The addition of the multi-engine opens a complete new world of possibilities. Don't trust its size, it has tremendous soundshaing capacities! The onboard delay, reverb, chorus and flanger effects are the same as these included in the Prologue. The connectivity CV/Gate/clock which allows to implement a modular system makes its possibilities even larger.

For around 500€, a must-have!

Only disappointement is the 16 step sequencer which does its work, but given the sound tayloring capabilities, the creativity can be braked with only 16 steps.

Favorite starter-synth

It's just so easy to start synthesis on this thing. It's the best option for anyone trying to get into analog synths. You can make a great deal of sounds with this machine, but it's also easy to program. The effects are medium-good, but I end up using them from time to time eventhough I have guitar pedals and better-sounding VST plugins. The filter on the XD is way better than the original by the way. I used to have the original, but it's thin-sounding compared to the XD. Still a great machine, but lacks weight.

Fantastic Analog/Digital Hybrid Synth

The sound shaping possibilities are astounding, and even for 4 voices it sounds massive. The multi-engine is very useful, especially since you can download custom user oscillators on it (like with Korg's Prologue). Love the two analog oscillators also, they sound much preferable to me compared to the original Minilogue. This synth's a hit.

freezeetch

Amazing value

Really amazing analog/digital hybrid polysynth. Onboard effects sound better than expected too. I wish there was a high-pass filter on it, and kinda wish the keys were full sized and that the cutoff knob was bigger like on the original, but at this price point I'm not complaining.

Great Starter Synth and Very Versatile

This synth is great for a starter because It can do most things. You can make great drones or create complex drum beats by recording each part separately.
