Description
Moog Subsequent 37: A Sonic Powerhouse
Elevate your performance with the Moog Subsequent 37, a 2-note paraphonic analog synthesizer that builds upon the legacy of the renowned Sub 37 Tribute Edition. The Subsequent 37 doesn't just replicate its predecessor's success - it enhances it, bringing a broader palette of sounds to the table, thanks to its enhanced analog signal path and user-requested functional improvements.
This synthesizer is a performer's dream, offering a silky keybed with enhanced playability, a high-powered headphone amplifier for live monitoring, and a wide array of sound design tools. It comes equipped with an array of 40 knobs and 74 switches, all designed to provide real-time control and tweakability to your music. A re-tuned Multidrive circuit allows for a more aggressive range of dirt, while the mixer offers double the headroom, enhancing the richness of the sound.
The Subsequent 37 features Duo Mode, a unique feature that allows each of its two oscillators to play different notes while sharing the same audio path. This opens up a world of creative possibilities, from holding bass drone notes while playing a lead over it, to playing in fifths, and creating other interesting musical effects.
Key Features:
- Enhanced analog signal path for greater sonic versatility
- 37-note keybed with enhanced action
- High-power headphone amp for live monitoring
- 2 versatile modulation buses for creating animated sounds
- Syncable arpeggiator and step sequencer for added creative potential
- DAHDSR (Delay, Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain, Release) looping envelopes with sync

Ballsy yet refined
This was my first mono analogue synth. I always liked the Minimoog Model-D but didn't believe buying an old synthesizer would be the best investment. My first analogue synth the Polybrute taught me modern analogue synths could be great yet affordable compared to vintage or re-issued synths. The Subsequent 37 isn't that expensive compared to a Minimoog, but it's still a real Moog and has a full high quality sound. The Polybrute also looks great and the Subsequent 37 as well. They're both designed by Axel Hartmann and look great together.
Some people say the Subsequent 37 has a vintage sound. I suppose that's because of the roll off at the high frequencies. That makes it can sound a bit "muffled" and makes it best suited for sounds that don't need to sound bright like most leads. On the other hand it sounds really dry and direct which makes it sound modern. Many other synths sound a little more woolly, like it's coming from further away. The Subsequent 37 sounds pure unfiltered. The Moog Minitaur which has a similar raw sound, but can get a little unpleasant, while the Subsequent delivers the same sound in a more refined way. It's very powerful and punchy with a lot of energy in the mids, from mid low to mid high. This makes it great for basses, sequences, some leads that sound really in your face and don't need a lot of high frequencies. It can also do some really Interesting effecty type sounds. It's generally an easy to grasp instrument that's very cool to play and create sounds with.

Great instrument
Love this synth , mostly use it for basslines . Filter and workflow are awesome. Setting up and saving patches is easy . But ... i would love to see the software updated more often so they get rid of the bugs ...

My best Mono Synth
I think this synth is the best of Moog (for me) The Duo function is just amazing, if you like to play 3rd note with root note in same time! and sounds soooo fat Their are many modulation options, so you can make the sounds what you want.
never gonna sell this machine :)

If you are only looking for the deep Moog bass sound . This one is just as powerful like the sub 37 .
$999.00 - $1,084.00
I wanted to recommend the Minitaur, which is a cheaper similar sounding instrument, but that entry already exists.
How about the Grandmother? It has a bit more of a smoother more pleasant sound. Not quite as in-your-face.
The Subsequent 37 sits between the Minitaur and the Grandmother in terms of character.
