Critic Reviews

Clavia Nord Piano 5

soundonsound.com

The Nord Piano 5 is a powerful stage piano that builds on its predecessors with impressive sound capabilities and a user-friendly interface. Musicians will appreciate the variety of acoustic and synth sounds, and the ability to layer and split them across the keyboard is a standout feature. However, the absence of a velocity-sensitive filter is a notable drawback, which might frustrate those seeking nuanced control. Additionally, the effects routing, while flexible, can feel convoluted at times. Overall, it’s a fantastic, albeit imperfect, tool for serious performers.

positive

Clavia Nord Piano 5

soundonsound.com

While the Nord Piano 5 is undeniably stylish and delivers impressive sound quality with its doubled sample memory and flexible Sample Synth, it stumbles with significant omissions. The lack of balanced outputs, pitch-bend and modulation controls, and the somewhat limited MIDI functionality detract from its versatility. Although it excels in performance simplicity, musicians may find themselves yearning for more robust features found in newer competitors. The price tag certainly reflects its premium status, but whether it justifies the cost in light of its shortcomings is up for debate.

negative

Nord Piano 5 review: Stunning stage piano that costs a fortune

higherhz.com

The Nord Piano 5 is a sonic powerhouse with exceptional sound quality and a user-friendly design, making it a top choice for professional musicians. Its stunning aesthetics and handcrafted build quality are undeniable. However, the hefty price tag may deter some buyers, and the keyboard feel can be polarizing, with some users finding it a bit stiff compared to competitors. Ultimately, while the Nord Piano 5 excels in performance and features, its cost is a significant consideration for potential buyers.
