tele partscaster
Originally an black Onyx Telecaster copy with black guard and rosewood neck, with chrome parts from Australia circa 80's, this guitar has had some work. DiMarzio Bridge pickup, All Black hardware, Ebony stain on neck, Blue pearl Pickguard and resprayed in a striking Charcoal Metallic Sparkle Finish with matching headstock, makes this guitar a mean black and blue piece of nasty I named :The Bruise. (generic image supplied. Actual guitar is guitar 6 of pic 2 on my gear porn page.

I originally lsited this as generic tele, then it got emrged with a 'standard tele' which it is not!
My tele is a mutt I made from a lacquered alder fender body of some sort or other and a 60s RI neck. I kitted her out to 59 specs more or less with custom made angeltone early-stagger pickups and a Hovland Musicap on the tone control wired 50s style. I deviated by flipping the control panel to allow easy volume adjustment and by installing a Rutters bridge with his late 50s steel compensated saddles. She absolutely sings.
though I love this telecaster and would NEVER EVER part with her, I haven't named her. She's pretty much a studio guitar, so we're not on a first name basis. You know, cats you tour with are always better buddies than guys you work a session with. Maybe one day she'll reveal her name to me.

Musicap weren't they for HiFi systems?

yeah, I tried the snake oil, not impressed. Anything's worth a shot.

I am building one
I build partscasters. I am currently working on my 1st one, a HH Telecaster build. It has a Golden Age Lipstick Tube Humbucker neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan JB. I spray painted the body myself. Will supply photos when finished

In this photo, Allman can be seen playing a parts Telecaster Custom with the neck pickup removed
'Robert Pollard’s parts Tele has a Fender Nashville Telecaster body, an Allparts neck, and Seymour Duncan pickups (Seth Lover neck, SSL-2 middle, and Broadcaster bridge)'
This guitar also appears on the album sleeve for 'Space City Kicks'
In the concert picture, you can see that JED's Tele is unusual. It has a tremolo bridge, three mini switches, a middle pickup, and a neck pickup similar to a bridge pickup and not the typical lipstick-looking Tele neck pup. It has no pickguard or control plate.
In the close up you can see it's the same guitar with a pickguard and a third pot added.
