Description

Tune with speed, accuracy, and confidence.

The VS-R StroboRack Virtual Strobe Tuner incorporates Peterson's patented Virtual Strobe technology in a single space rack format. Amazing accuracy (0.1 cent), a huge Strobe display screen, all metal construction, Neutrik jacks, and banks of Sweetened tunings for electric, acoustic, bass, 12-string, pedal steel, resonator guitar, electric violin & instruments using the Buzz Feiten Tuning System. The large graphics tuning display can be used to display any message or slogan when not tuning. By simply entering your message using the front panel knob, it will then display when the tuner is in its non-muted "play" mode. The custom message can either scroll on the screen or come up line by line.

Ever tune your instrument as precisely as possible and it still sounds a bit off, particularly when you play in certain keys? Peterson's Sweetened tunings tap into the tempered tunings that make each instrument sound the best it can, across the board, in every key. The Peterson StroboRack's banks of sweetened tunings are programmed for specific instruments. Each is a well-tempered tuning for your specific type of instrument, and it sounds, well, sweet!

Upgrade your StroboRack for any type of signal with the optional SR-EX StroboRack Pro Input Expander.

Reviews

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Peterson StroboRack Tuner.

User experience

  • Owners note that the Peterson StroboRack is extremely sensitive to pick attack, requiring a light pluck with the thumb for accurate tuning.

    Source
  • Some users find the StroboRack's display challenging, as the strobe effect never fully stops, requiring an understanding that slight oscillation is normal.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The StroboRack offers more features than some users have had the chance to explore, suggesting a depth of functionality.

    Source
  • The StroboRack allows sweetener settings, which some report improve chord consonance more than standard tuning.

    Source
  • The built-in buffer switch in Peterson tuners can be toggled to adjust brightness depending on the amplifier, useful for vintage amps.

    Source
  • The Peterson StroboRack allows for custom tuning settings, with users able to create and download personalized tunings directly from Peterson's support team.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Some musicians find the StroboRack's precision leads to spending excessive time achieving perfect tuning, preferring simpler chromatic tuners like the Polytune for everyday use.

    Source
  • Another strobe tuner, the Sonic Research ST-300, is noted to be more accurate than Peterson models, with claims of being five times more precise.

    Source
  • The StroboRack is considered overkill for routine tuning compared to simpler options like clip-ons and app-based tuners.

    Source
  • The Walrus Audio Canvas tuner has unique features like picture uploads and screen orientation but falls short in tuning accuracy compared to the Peterson StroboRack.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The StroboRack is particularly praised for intonation adjustments, being precise enough for demanding applications like pedal steel guitar tuning.

    Source
  • While precise, the StroboRack's accuracy is most beneficial for setting intonation or when playing alongside keyboards during recording.

    Source
  • Sweetened tunings on the Peterson StroboRack are beneficial for addressing the G and B string tuning gap, enhancing guitar chord intonation.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Peterson tuners are considered more affordable now compared to their 80s and 90s counterparts, with the StroboRack providing professional-grade accuracy at a more accessible price point.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Floating bridges on Strats require multiple tuning passes with the StroboRack due to tension sensitivity; adjusting bridge height can reduce sensitivity.

    Source
  • For Floyd Rose systems, a specific tuning process involving passing the center by an opposite amount helps achieve perfect pitch using the StroboRack.
