Critic Reviews

Quilter SuperBlock US | Guitarkind

guitarkind.com

The Quilter Labs SuperBlock US is a surprisingly powerful and compact pedal amp, delivering authentic tones reminiscent of classic tube amplifiers. Its thoughtful design includes user-friendly controls and an external effects loop, enhancing its appeal for tone-conscious players. While it excels in clean sounds and offers versatile voicings, it may not satisfy those seeking high-gain distortion. Additionally, some users might find the tonal nuances slightly less warm than traditional tube amps. Still, with its lightweight build and impressive sound quality, the SuperBlock US stands out as a robust option for both home use and smaller gigs.

Small but mighty!

I'm just going to get this out of the way. I love Quilter. Whatever they are doing is absolute magic, and I love them for it.

So after getting rid of my Hot Rod Deluxe, I figured it was time to find an appropriate amplifier to replace it. I elected for the SuperBlock US, partially because of it's direct in capabilities, but also because I could very well mount it at the end of my pedalboard and send it to my 1x12 cabinet.

Forget everything you've heard about solid state amplifiers - this thing sounds amazing. It's warm, it's responsive, and it's quintessentially American in voicing. Very clean, with a good amount of headroom for pedals. And at 25 watts, it's a screamer!

EDIT 8/27/24: I have gotten rid of it, but I still very much recommend it!

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I run my SuperBlock as follows: Master - 10:30 Reverb - 10:30 Treble - noon Middle - 9 o'clock Bass - noon Limiter - ZERO Gain - 10 o'clock

And I always keep it in the 65 Blackface voicing with normal cab sim.
