A Unique Limiter
It is not your standard limiter. It produces amazing results, and it really shines on the low end. The enhance feature is a bit mysterious, but once you try it and compare it on and off, you'll find it has a lot of uses. I replaced my FF Pro-L2 with this one and am not looking back. I'd recommend it. I use it on my ambient and electronic music with great success. Not only does it give a good low end, it adds some kind of sparkly goodness to the high end as well.
Sonnox has some good videos by Rich Tozzoli that show what this limiter and their other products can do.
Wait for a sale on it if you don't own it yet. Sonnox regularly has sales that discount their plugins by around 70%, from my experience.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
My usual settings for ambient and electronic music, including piano and classical music: Threshold -1.10, Input Gain as needed, Attack 0.476 ms, Release 1.06 ms, Soft Knee 1.50 dB, Auto Gain on, Safe Mode off, Enhance (Xfade) 0-30%, Output Trim 0.0 dB, Recon Meter off, Auto Comp on, Peak Hold on, Dither none. This limiter is nearly the last in line on my master. I follow it with a dithering plugin and a meter.

a solid limiter from sony
this is a limiter in the ultramaximizer/finalizer camp (who else remembers finalizer?).... an oldie but a goodie from sony. Has its own vibe to a certain degree but all the digital brickwallers are pretty similar. It can be really useful printed hard on a mix that you fly out to its own stereo bus and bring up in parallel beneath the n-limited multitrack to split the difference and add some of the interesting oxford plugin character.... wanna get silly? try chaining it after inflater. The sony plugins have a sound that's hyper modern and yt unlike the pre-renaissance waves stuff and the McDSP stuff from the same era. I don't use them one very mix but I use them a lot. Been with the Oxford stuff since seeing them advertised in a sweetwater catalog well over a decade ago and I don't regret the expense.

Oxford makes a lot of good plug ins! this limiter is perfect for a final mix down and is good on and individual channel and a master! i personally use it for individual channels

How did you discover Sonnox plug ins?
It was word-of-mouth about the overall quality of Sonnox.
I tried many limiters from other high-end plug-in developers but none of them worked as I wanted.
When I used the Oxford Limiter for the first time I was completely blown away. Now it's my go-to limiter for orchestral music (even when I consider hardware options). Not only does it increase the perceived loudness more than other limiters, more importantly, it does not change the timbre or colour of the sound. That is crucial for orchestral music.
How do you use Sonnox plug-ins in your work?
I use Sonnox plug-ins exclusively on the mix and master bus of every orchestral project I mix. I believe that a great orchestral recording starts with perfect microphone placement, and a great performance from the players. After that you just need a little EQ and some limiting. I use Oxford EQs throughout the mix, and the Oxford Limiter on the final bus. There is something about Sonnox plug-ins that just makes it easier for me to get the sound I am looking for. I think the best example of my most recent work would be the recording of the latest performances of my Requiem Inês de Castro. The Oxford Limiter acts so beautifully it almost sounds as if no limiter was used at all, which to me is the highest compliment.
