Excellent bass!
There's a reason so many people love their Squire Precision Basses. This Matt Freeman bass is no exception.
The sound I get out of the MF P Bass is amazing! I've had a number of basses before but this one is hands down my favorite. Great build quality, awesome playability and the look/feel of the finished maple neck is damn good too.
Bang-for-the-buck factor is high on the scale too. There's nothing that can touch this for the money IMO. Basses costing two and three times as much have nothing on this one.
I don't see myself ever getting rid of this one. I have a kickass set of flatwounds on it and it gives me the thump I want and need for a number of genres. Anyone who says that you can't do good slap technique with flatwounds doesn't know what they are talking about.
If you can get one in good shape for the right price, snap it up before its gone. These are discontinued and the price on the secondary market will continue to go up.

Probably the best Squier Bass
I like it, I like its look and its sound. I like its great in your face simplicity. I like the fact that I can play The Undertones best bass riffs as well as a James Jamerson line on it and there is absolutely no problem whatsoever. And my luthier was so impressed when I brought him to settle a few problems… I am not a pro but seeing one showing interest rather than contempt was another good sign about this bass !
Artist usage
Add artist
A black Squier Matt Freeman signature Precision bass is seen at around 4:12 in the video where Laura demonstrates the Izotope Spire Studio, Laura mentions that she started out playing in bass in local punk bands. This might also be the very same bass used on the album Transgender Dysphoria Blues, where Laura herself recorded all but 2 bass tracks (the remaining 2 recorded by NOFX's Fat Mike), but there is no proof of that to be found online.
From guitar.com:
Her main bass guitar here is a signature Matt Freeman Squier, gifted to her by the Rancid bassist himself after he played it while out on tour with her and Against Me!.
