Upgrade the pickups
SX is really a decent guitar manufacters for the money, the make quality instruments for affordable budget, and how they do it? By cutting down the budget for the pickups, so if you pick up a couple of Fender Jazz Pickups, either Custom Shop, American, Texas or MIM, is going to make a hell of upgrade for your sound. (Also if you are picky and dont want to have the SX brand logo in the headstock, any generic jazz neck would fit if carefully installed)

Made a few upgrades
I removed the pickup and bridge covers, changed the pots and pickups. The pickups are Seymour Duncan Jazz Bass Quarter Pounders. Also, my bass is three-tone sunburst.

In the video we can see Joe playing an electric bass in an upright position. When the camera pans over him, we can clearly see the SX logo on the bass, along with some additional writing along the headstock. I would tend to believe the writing says Vintage Series. It is also very clearly a natural finish, the body probably is made of ash.
the bass can be seen at around 16:46, quoting what she is saying:
[..] I got it while I was still on collage, and I couldn´t really afford a real Fender Jazz Bass at the time, so this is a knock off Sx bass [..]
pick ups are Dimarzio Ultra Jazz
