In this YouTube clip, taken from the DVD "Live scenes from New York", starting from 00:47 you can see the unmistakable TRB 6 headstock. The sound is obviously a fretless one. John was at that time a Yamaha endorser. Anyway, I don't think it's a TRB 6 II though...
