Yamaha TRBX504 | Bass Gear Magazine

bassgearmag.com

The Yamaha TRBX504 bass guitar delivers exceptional value with a neck that feels superb and versatile active/passive electronics. Its tonal profile is impressively full and smooth, reminiscent of vintage instruments, yet modern in appearance. While the black nickel hardware finish might not scream high-end, the overall build quality punches well above its price point. The bass's natural warmth and fullness are complemented by the active EQ for tonal sculpting, making it adaptable in various settings. The TRBX504 stands out as not just a great budget bass, but a genuinely great bass overall.

Bass Lab – Yamaha TRBX504 | Bass Gear Magazine

bassgearmag.com

The Yamaha TRBX504 delivers exceptional value for its price, offering features typically found in much more expensive models. Its standout electronics provide a versatile, high-quality sound, while the mahogany body and maple-mahogany neck offer a warm, punchy tone. Though the hardware is merely functional and the finish is a bit lackluster, these minor drawbacks are easily overshadowed by its impressive playability and build quality. The TRBX504 is a solid contender in its price range, making it a must-consider for bassists seeking quality without breaking the bank.

The first bass I din't have change !

All my basses are made by me or changed by me. this is the first one i was happy with straight out of the box ! The only things I didn't like where : 1. the switch ( I like simple things and there are 5 options witch is to much for me ) 2. the 2 tone switches ( there are to much options that I do not need ) maybe I will remove these in the future The neck is nice the body is nice the paint is nice and the bridge is nice. The sound is over the top !!! it is loud and has a build in boost so it can be even louder. The neck is strong witch is a must have for me .

Very good but not without its minor issues

Overall, I have been extremely impressed with this bass. It cost me £361 to buy, and it sounds absolutely exceptional for the price. The minor issues mentioned in the title are as follows: -The translucent black paint has become glossy from wear where my fingers have hit it coming off the E string and where my arm rubs on the body while playing -The original nut snapped mid gig, meaning I had to use a different bass and had to get it replaced with an ivory nut -The tuning pegs, jack input, bridge, and control switch/knobs, although beautiful, do have a problem with corrosion -I have had to re-solder wires in the electronics as they have come loose in the past

When compared to the good aspects of this bass though, they almost seem obsolete. I am impressed with this bass for the following reasons -Amazing array of tones at the players disposal, ranging from a thumpy jazzy tone to a hard hitting slap tone -Onboard EQ is very intuitive -The bass stays in tune very well -Can be active or passive, which is useful for when the battery goes flat -Looks absolutely stunning -Has (mostly) been able to withstand the wear and tear of a year in a high school heavy rock band -Goes very well with overdrive and distortion -Extremely reasonable price for the quality

I have used this bass for many genres, ranging from funk to metal to jazz, and even in electronic music, and it has always been suitable for the task at hand. If you are planning to buy a sub £400 bass guitar, then I would definitely consider this, as it is easy to play, reliable to an extent, and sounds extremely good whatever you are playing on it
