Description
Introducing the Zildjian 13 1/4” K Custom Hybrid Hihats, designed in collaboration with renowned drum stylist Akira Jimbo. This hybrid pair is a game-changer in the realm of cymbal music, offering a unique blend of power, warmth, and control. The brilliant/traditional surface of the cymbal creates a unique tonal range, producing different tones depending on where it is played, a feature that can be described as a musical "darkness with brilliance" combination.
The inner half of the cymbal features the unlathed, brilliant finish of the K Custom Ride, while the outer half showcases the traditional K Zildjian lathing. This unique design helps control the wash and sustain, making it a perfect fit for both recording and live situations.
The hihats utilize an innovative "Hybrid Hammering" technique, resulting in reverse Mastersound grooves, thus increasing the surface area contact between the top and bottom cymbals. This results in a warmer chick and wash than your typical Mastersound hammering.
These hihats were specifically designed at a 13-1/4" size as per Akira Jimbo's specifications, combining the power of a 14" size with the control of a 13" size. This makes the Zildjian 13 1/4” K Custom Hybrid Hihats not just an instrument, but a versatile tool designed to redefine the standards of cymbal music in the 21st century.

I have been playing drums for the last 10 years and i never thought i would come across a pair of hi-hats like these. After many years of playing Sabian i finally switched to Zildjian cymbals. What promted the purchase of these hats was cracking my 14" Sabian X-celerators. I went to my local Sam Ash thinking I would stick with the traditional size of 14" hi-hats or even bump up to 15". However after a live audience in the store helped me further analyze these 13 1/4" hats there was no doubt these were perfect for my alternative rock & blues sound. K Hybrids are now my favorite cymbal line currently on my kit. Give these guys a whack you wont be disappointed.
