Description
The melding of years of meticulous sound design heritage with a brand new interactive UI. A nuclear power plant of an audio engine made more stable than ever combines with a redesigned, reimagined interface to augment full command of sonic design. Cross-platform and multiple format, ZynAddSubFX 3.0 is ready to create the sounds you need.
The ZynAddSubFX synthesizer project was first released nearly 15 years ago by Paul Nasca Octavia with such an incredible feature set (warm, analog sound, powerful modulation, and a complete set of built-in effects), it quickly became a benchmark for what software is capable of. Add in the fact it was open-source and free and you will understand why Zyn is still relevant a decade and a half later. With years of active maintenance and refactoring completed for the 3.0 release, Zyn-Fusion is an up-to-date, classic, audio-powerhouse.

Great
This is a great free synth, it looks confusing, so I would suggest getting the new version called Zynfusion, I don't know if its free or not but you can build it from source, at least you can on linux :p.

ZynAddSuBFX is the most complex, powerfull and versatile software synthesizer
Unfa says (I think same):
"ZynAddSuBFX is the most complex, powerfull and versatile software synthesizer I have ever seen. What's more it is free (libre) software with source code available. It might seem difficult to program at first, but thanks to a big set of patches shipped with it - new users can first explore what the synth can do, and then experiment with the knobs on their own.
Very good, reliable and powerfull softsynth"
Still great quality!
It’s an old software that never updated, but I still downloaded a vst version of this plugin from the internet. It’s all FREE download, just loaded the vst in my DAW and messed with some sounds. It’s got a TON of presets, however some of them suck...
the best among the bests
interface could be improved and most features pops out when you absolutely don't need them but who cares, it's the choise.

the only synth you'll ever need.
the only synth you'll ever need. the u.i. is unimpressive but one look at the sound shaping capacity and you'll love this app.

In the attached video, Sevish is demonstrating how to create microtonal music. At 3:06, his screen shows him using the ZynAddSubFX plugin as a synth with microtonal compatibility, and it's shown throughout the video demonstration.
