Description
Step into the world of vintage synths with the u-he Repro, a dual powerhouse plug-in that captures the essence of classic analog synthesis. The Repro-1 is your ticket to unashamedly monophonic sound, drawing inspiration from the iconic monosynths of the 70s. With component-level modeling, u-he meticulously recreates the sonic quirks and nuances of the originals, delivering a raw, gritty sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. This monosynth offers a robust feature set, including two oscillators, a 4-pole resonant lowpass filter, and an onboard arpeggiator, making it perfect for crafting everything from thunderous basslines to ethereal leads.
Meanwhile, Repro-5 brings polyphonic magic to the table, expanding your possibilities with lush chords and thick unison leads. Sharing the same sonic DNA as the Repro-1, it introduces new flavors with its 8-voice polyphony and flexible modulation options. Both synths come loaded with over 500 presets each, providing you with a vast palette of sounds to explore. Whether you're a seasoned synth enthusiast or a newcomer, the u-he Repro series is a versatile and deeply satisfying addition to your virtual instrument arsenal.

Love it !!
U-He make amazing synths, and as I already own Ace, Bazille, Hive, Diva and Zebra, I wondered if I had a legitimate need for Repro, but I demo'd it and it turns out I do. I'm a huge fan of the synth sounds of the late 70s and early 80s, and how phat and chunky they sounded, so the Pro-1is so good for those techno arps and basslines / sequences, but I'm also a fan of Japan and Richard Barbeiri's distinctive prophet 5 patches on tracks like Ghosts, Nightporter etc....so to get both Repro 1 and Repro 5 in one package was an offer I couldn't just walk past. It was also a nice touch to get a 25% off code because I own Bitwig. Thank you Bitwig !! As usual with U-He, excellence comes as standard. Flawless sound engine !!

I'm always impressed with how different Repro is from Diva, sonically. Both great in their own way.

yes
arguably the best sounding simulation of a vintage synth I have ever heard, the tweakability under the hood is great for dialing in the pro1 sounds you love from Yazoo and Cybotron and shit on a psychotically detailed level. The sequencer is cute and the additional effects actually sound pretty decent and can be useful in some situations. I think what makes this guy so accurate though isn't just the filter models its the snappy envelopes that capture the whole aggressive sequential circuits vibe. I use this all the time over hardware analog synths. I like it that much. So different from a Moog or Arp.

Huh...I've threatened Kyja with doin a Yazoo cover for fun a few times now.

I like Yazoo, its fun like soft cell.

I'm a huge fan of Cybotron, and just Atkin's work in general, so it's great to have something that so closely approximates what he used and getting those similar vibes when making these awesome phat basslines. It;s an absolute gem of a synth !!

Synth History: What are some of your go to synths? Hardware and plug-ins / soft synths?
Madeon: On stage I use the Bass Station by Novation quite a lot. I love it. It's not a vintage piece of gear, but I think it has so much character. It's got great distortion. Used all throughout the show and in the studio as well. So that's definitely one that I go to a lot. I have Juno-106 that I adore, but I'm light on synth hardware in the studio, to be honest. I try to be careful about what I introduce, it's like adding a member to the family. You want to make sure to give them proper love and care and not just collect. I don't want to be a collector that just has a wall of stuff. I have an OP-1 which I use sometimes to create textures. Usually I just use the weird physics sequencer and run it through reverb to make drones, so I like playing with the OP-1.
As far as soft synths goes, I'm a big fan of the work of U-he, they do Diva and Repro-1 and 5, which I use a ton. I think Diva is probably one of the finest soft synths, although I don't use it as much as I as I should. Lately I've been reaching out for the Repro which is a Prophet simulation that they have. So yeah, those are kind of my go tos with soft synths.

Music producer Moullinex uses the u-he Repro synth plugin. He states, "In software, anything done by u-he. Diva and Repro are incredible pieces of engineering. Often, I write a synth part on the go using them, thinking ‘this will sound great on a Moog at the studio’, only to then choose the original demo sound."
