Great for the price

This is a copy of the UAD 710 PreAmp. The selling point is that it has both a transistor and a tube signal path, meaning you can blend the two for more sounds. The MP100 uses cheap components, but so does the UAD to be honest. It is a little bit forward in the midrange, so it takes away from the shine on vocals and the low end on instruments like a kick drum.

However, this is probably the perfect thing for DI Guitars. Simply set it to tube setting, crank the signal to 8 on gain and volume all the way up and put it into the line in on your interface. Use Guitar Rig or BIAS or what have you, and you basically got the one thing missing from your DI set up... Analog Saturation ;)
