Universal Audio Twin-finity 710

soundonsound.com

Universal Audio's 710 Twin-Finity is a versatile preamp that ingeniously blends tube and solid-state paths, offering a wide tonal range from clean to gritty. It's perfect for those who want character in their recordings, with a smooth tube warmth or solid-state clarity. However, the lack of independent drive controls for each path means users might need to compromise on settings to achieve the perfect blend. Despite this, its ability to serve both as a mic preamp and a high-quality instrument DI makes it a compelling choice for versatile studio setups.

Universal Audio's 710 Twin-Finity mic preamp is a versatile powerhouse, seamlessly blending tube warmth with solid-state clarity. Its intuitive design allows musicians to dial from pristine to gritty tones effortlessly, making it a standout in its price range. Despite its affordability, it competes with pricier counterparts, offering a classic aesthetic and robust functionality. Whether capturing the subtle nuances of a cello or the punch of a kick drum, the 710 delivers consistently impressive results. Ideal for those seeking diverse sonic landscapes, it's a commendable choice for both studio veterans and newcomers.

Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity earns praise for its versatile sound, blending tube and solid-state tones with a unique control. It's lauded for its ability to produce clean or gritty sounds, making it suitable for various musical applications. Its compact design and low noise levels are highlighted, alongside its attractive price point. However, the preamp's controls are noted to feel less solid than expected, and it's easy to overdrive, sometimes leading to harsh tones. The lack of separate outputs for each path is another minor drawback. Overall, it's a fun, intuitive, and great-sounding preamp worth considering for studios.

Tone-Blending Mic Preamplifier

he award-winning 710 Twin-Finity™ is a radical UA mic preamp design that combines both the classic retro warmth of tubes with the transient bite of solid-state, all in a 2U, half-rack unit. The 710 was created specifically to add the tonal versatility and sonic inspiration missing from generic audio interface preamps.

Tone blending is continually variable between 100% tube and 100% solid-state, offering a practically infinite range of unique preamp tones, plus the ability to easily dial-in your own signature sound. There are lots of sensibly priced solid-state and tube preamplifiers out there, but the 710 Twin-Finity is the only one that offers the best of both worlds — as well as everything in-between — all in one box, and within reach of any serious project studio’s budget. Includes a 19" rack-kit for mounting one or two units.
