Features and functionality

The FetHead can be plugged directly into the microphone, avoiding the need for a second cable unlike the Cloudlifter.
Source -
The FetHead Germanium uses a germanium transistor to intentionally color sound, similar to a fuzz pedal effect.

Impedance differences in inline preamps can cause negligible tone shaping, but the FetHead Germanium and Soyuz Launcher are designed to add harmonic coloration.

Use cases and applications
-
Some users prefer connecting the FetHead to the mic to improve signal-to-noise ratio, though others find no noticeable difference in noise levels.

Very compact, does the job!
When looking to increase the gain on microphone like the Shure SM7B, you can't go wrong with a fethead. They are much cheaper, fit in better with your flow, and do exactly the same job. You would be extremely hard pressed to tell the difference in a blind test.
