The Aurora Audio GTQ2 Mic-Pre is a standout in the crowded market of Neve 1073 clones, thanks to the expertise of ex-Neve engineer Geoff Tanner. The GTQ2 maintains the beloved vintage Neve sound—characterized by its "iron" heart and musical EQ—while addressing some of the original's shortcomings, like excessive high-frequency roll-off. Users will appreciate its quieter operation and enhanced high-end detail compared to the original 1073, making it ideal for both electric guitar and vocals. Though lacking the original's HF roll-off, it delivers a soul-stirring sound that rivals its predecessor. Tanner's creation is an evolution rather than a reproduction, offering musicians a modern classic.

Neve without the mushy bottom and with a more detailed sound instead of the hazy midrange

"Rupert Neve didn't exactly design the Neve console. He hired a team of engineers to design all of the different modules that made up the famous mixing desks. One of those engineers and one of the world's leading authorities on what makes a real Neve sound like a real Neve is Geoff Tanner. Aurora Audio is Tanner's company and he hand builds new gear that perfects the original Neve designs."
