Description
The Bluguitar AMP1 Iridium Edition is a powerhouse amp designed for the modern metal guitarist, delivering ferocious tones in a pedalboard-friendly format. Engineered by renowned guitarist Thomas Blug, this 100W Nanotube-driven amplifier combines the warmth and responsiveness of a traditional tube amp with cutting-edge digital features. It offers four finely-tuned channels—Clean, Vintage, Classic, and Modern—each crafted to provide a range of sonic possibilities from pristine cleans to bone-crushing distortion.
The AMP1 Iridium Edition isn't just about raw power; it's about precision. Its three independent overdrive channels allow for meticulous control over your gain structure and dynamics, while the clean channel is tailored to offer sparkling clarity even with mid-heavy humbuckers. The integrated noise gate with three sensitivity levels ensures your high-gain riffs cut through with zero unwanted noise. For those who love to tweak, the AMP1 provides an infinitely variable gain boost and a custom control tone knob to shape your sound to perfection.
Whether you're gigging or recording, the AMP1's analog speaker simulation and optional Remote 1 foot controller (sold separately) expand its versatility, offering seamless integration with your existing gear. Best amp in the market under 1k, get one.
I never had actually good, great amps. I used impulses, pedalboards, etc. Later moved on to the 6505-line, Orange, Marshalls, Fenders, etc. mostly in gigs, borrowed some, trades, etc. I got the Iridium and later started to try different speaker combinations, a lot of success here. But because I always had used boosters, overdrives, distortions, fuzz' I always put a pedal on top of the amp - because that's how I would normally get the sounds I needed from any of that other gear. Once I just stripped everything away and only had a whammy DT (to quickly change tunings) and the Iridium, a V30 cab and forced myself to use that. Now I don't think I need anything more than that, perhaps only a delay and the Whammy DT. I always thought you had to use pedals, but I've realized that you only need pedals to make an amp sound like another or to kick up a notch a lesser amp - and I have a bunch of pedals that are great, Life Pedal, Twosome, most of the Boss OD's, DS, etc. Palisades, Plumes, etc., Muff, etc. You don't, just play the Iridium loud and don't get stuck on the usual stuff that you get a better sound with less gain, crack it the f-up. You get a pretty good palate with the 4 channels.
I read the reviews, that constant background noise - it's a metal amp, you need to turn on the integrated gate. No issues so far (3+ years). The knobs on the side panel are small though, and the buttons for switching channels, boost and reverb could be better. But it's a 5 for what you can get at that price point. Would buy it again if it ever happened anything to it. Now I don't think I need more amps - if I can't get anything out of this, that's on me not the gear.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
C.Vol: 08, H.Gain: 10, H.Master: 08, Bass: 08, Middle: 06, Treble: 07, Reverb: 8, M.Master: At least above 3-4, preferably around 8.
On the side panel I have it all the way to one side or the other, not a lot of blending in a flavor with another.
