Cakewalk Rapture

soundonsound.com

Cakewalk's Rapture is a flexible and powerful multisample synthesizer with a clear focus on synthesis rather than sampling. It impresses with its sophisticated modulation options and clean sound quality, making it a strong contender for electronic music producers. The synth's ease of programming and anti-aliasing engine are highlights, offering a wealth of sonic possibilities. However, some areas could be streamlined, such as the modulation setup, which lacks global modulators that would simplify the sound-creation process. Despite minor drawbacks, Rapture strikes a balance between user-friendliness and depth, making it a valuable tool for those seeking a versatile virtual synth.

Cakewalk: Rapture | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

Cakewalk's Rapture synthesizer impresses with its vast array of over 500 sound programs and intuitive controls, catering well to electronica fans. The bass and Moog emulations stand out, providing depth and punch, while the "one-note-wonder" sequences add dynamic flair to tracks. However, the drum kits are limited, leaving room for improvement in versatility. The EQ section is lackluster, but the Insert FX offers quality effects. Overall, Rapture is a flexible tool with creative potential, particularly for techno enthusiasts, despite some shortcomings.

Cakewalk Rapture review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Cakewalk's Rapture Synthesizer impresses with its rich sound palette and extensive modulation options, making it a versatile tool for synth-based music genres. While it excels with digital tones and offers a wealth of filters and modulation capabilities, it may struggle with recreating classic wavetable sounds. Overall, Rapture stands out as a robust synth with a nod to classic hardware, suitable for electronic musicians who appreciate both vintage and cutting-edge digital sounds.

Dusty and old!

Feels old and unsupported. Crashes a lot. You can get it for almost no money though by buying Computer Music mag issue 200 which you can buy digitally. Make sure you go to the official site and download the two free expansion sound packs.
