Critic Reviews

Ultex Jazz III Review by Jim Dunlop | Guitar Pick Zone

guitarpickzone.com

The Dunlop Jazz III Ultex 1.38mm Guitar Picks are a solid choice for guitarists seeking durability and brightness in their sound. Made from the sturdy Ultex material, these picks offer a brighter tone compared to their Nylon counterparts. While the grip is decent with its raised logos, it's not as secure in sweaty conditions as some might hope. The feel, though lightweight, may come across as hollow, which could be off-putting for some players. Despite this, the pick's rounded tip allows for smooth string gliding, making it ideal for lead playing. Overall, it's a reliable pick for those prioritizing durability and bright tone, but the feel might not suit everyone.

Gold standard for Jazz IIIs!

I have a ton of these. And given that I've come back to the Jazz III fold, I've been playing these more and more.

If I had one complaint - and it is only one small complaint - Dunlop needs to make a MaxGrip version of this pick. If they did that, it would be absolutely perfect. That's why I've marked it four of five.

I found it, the perfect plectrum

Does the ultimate pick exist? It does for me, and it is this one. Perfect shape, perfect material, perfect thickness, perfect attack. The only thing that could be better, or rather more useful, is the colour – transparent yellow is not the easiest to see.
