Thought Tortex was the way - and I'm back to Ultex, where I started!

Ah, Ultex. Whatever Dunlop does to make you, it's straight up alchemy.

These things sound amazing. They're more unforgiving than Tortex or picks with raised grips - they will twist out of your hand if you're not careful.

But once you find that sweet spot? You have a pick that is practically indestructible and has great tone.

Yes, I thought the Tortex .73mm picks were the way - but given that I have loved Ultex from the very beginning, it's only natural that I come back to the pick material that caught my attention when I started playing guitar.

Amazing picks. I'm going to use these forever.

Hard to drop and hard to break.

I used this gauge of ultex back when I was a serious pick guy for about 2 years while in a band that lasted for 5 or so. That's a lot of commitment for me. I like that the ultex picks slide off the string but not off your fingers. The sharp point lasts incredibly long and can also be used to fish bad truck stop food out of your teeth when you run out of floss between tour stops. the overall tone is a great compromise between vintage celluloid (fender) and tortex. They don't crack like thinner celluloid picks and they wear a lot slower than tortex.

The .73 gauge was awesome for me at the time. I liked the slight flex they had for circular picking and they added a really nice amount of click to my chugging when playing power chordy rhythms through a raging superlead. I started to get back into heavier picks a few mm at a time and now like genuinely heavy picks because I got a bag of heavies for free from Fender way back when and I'm notoriously cheap about shit like picks... but given my druther in plastic picks I still dig these or the 1mm ultexes a lot. You should try 'em if you haven't.

Best Acoustic Pic

Use this with my dreadnought J-15 and they just sound better than the tortes I use. Much more versatility from a pick. Which, if you told me before I tried them I’d have laughed!

I tried many different picks, and these ones best fit my hand and my playing style. For blues, I better like something more sharp and thicker, but for most of the genres I am playing, I only swear by those buddies,

Pick for menace

My style of playing is to go ham and the strum the hell out of your strings. These allow me to do it. Especially the triangular version which is bigger.
