It came with some imperfections, but it is one of my favorites.
I bought this off ebay from a seller in Japan. It came to me with some problems with the wiring that needed fixed. The humbucker also tended to squeal a lot. But some work was done and it is a buzzsaw of sound.
It's Korean-made, according to who I bought it from. Probably from 1990 or 1989, before Fernandes changed headstock shapes to avoid trouble with Fender. It is something I am very happy to have. It is a little fragile from the years, so I use it sparingly and delicately to avoid damage.

Cracking Japanese Lawsuit Strat
Bought 2nd hand at Wunjo on Denmark St. Gold colour. A bit heavy but other than that plays like a dream. Previous owner has swapped out the bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan humbucker.

In this interview with Chris Everard of Electronic Soundmaker & Computer Music conducted in October 1984, Eno says, "I have two instruments which I love, one is a copy of a 1957 Stratocaster a Fernandez copy, it's a brilliant instrument, beautiful guitar, which Bob Quine, Lou Reed's guitar player, selected for me in New York. He'd already bought three or four Fernandez guitars himself, he's a Stratocaster fan.
"A Fernandez copy costs the same as a brand new Stratocaster, but they are perfect copies of, perfect copies - like they do a '53, a '57 and a '61 and I have the '57. It's an absolutely identical copy, you can't get a '57 Strat now that sounds good for less than 15 hundred dollars. My one's a beautiful, beautiful instrument."
Marty Friedman used a Fernandes Stratocaster on the album "Scenes," as noted on Reverb.

In this youtube video, Isaac can be seen using a Fernandez Stratocaster. I’m pretty sure it’s been modified and had filtertron pickups. He started using this guitar around September of 1998 after his Westone guitar was stolen from Phoenix, Arizona. Later on he dropped this thing off a 3 story building and hasn’t been used since 2000.
He uses specifically a sunburst Fernandes FST-65T 1981 Stratocaster with a black pickguard and is seen using it in this video and multiple other occasions
Dominic Miller has been using a Fernandes Stratocaster since 1996, as mentioned on his Twitter account.
In ‘88 I also got another Fernandes but this was a metallic purple Strat (!) which is any whammy bars you hear on Lincoln (Purple Toupee) It’s on a lot of Lincoln actually-but came and went as things did. - John Flansburgh (source: https://tmbgareok.tumblr.com/post/182271580271/over-the-years-ive-noticed-you-played-various)
Flansburgh claims to have bought this guitar in 1988 but this concert footage is from 1987. It's possible that Flansburgh misremembered the year he bought this guitar. The tone knob for the middle pickup appears to have been missing/replaced.
