Fostex MR16HDCD

soundonsound.com

The Fostex MR-16HDCD shines as a budget-friendly, entry-level 16-track recorder with ease of use, making it ideal for musicians with limited technical know-how. It offers basic recording and onboard effects, but lacks professional-level features like comprehensive EQ and multiple auxiliary sends. The construction feels a bit flimsy, and it only allows for four tracks of simultaneous recording, limiting its live recording capabilities. While it performs well for demo work, musicians looking for more robust functionality might explore other options. Overall, it’s a functional tool for simple recording tasks, but not without its limitations.

Super high quality machine

This is a simple to use, super hi-fi, and super cheap multitrack recorder. It has 4 inputs, all with 48 volt phantom power at your disposal, built in effects and much more. However, the recorder only has one insert which is a real bummer if you plan to use a lot outboard effects.
