THE AMP

I love this amp. I do wish the gain structure switch was footswitchable but it's really not required. Not as gainy as other Friedman amps, a good pure tone comes out of this guy. The second master volume is the perfect addition for my style of playing. A straight volume boost when it's needed. Nothing more.

jimmarchi1

have an experience with old plexis and JMPs? how does it sound versus turning a nonmaster up loud enough to liquefy rodents?

andre_scott

I've got a few non-masters, including a Germino HR100. This is not as much a Plexi style amp, as it is a modern rock amp. I have a 3rd Power HLH HD100 that I use for that 12000/68 tone live. No way is anyone playing a 100 watt with the master up on stage these days!

jimmarchi1

that's why I ditched all my 4 input marshalls.... I wasn't playing the big stages anymore and they had too much power for venues under 500 seats. I find 15 watts is plenty for me most of the time now. Hell, sometimes I can just use my ac4

andre_scott

A good Tweed Twin (low power) or even a Tweed Deluxe is plenty! I had a reissue of the 57 Deluxe from Fender for a while and it was perfect for 90% of venues. I only let it go because I wanted to get a Clark.
