Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Joyo JF-11 6 Band Equalizer.

Comparisons

  • The Joyo 6 Band EQ offers an 18 dB boost/cut per band, which is more than the Caline's 12 dB, providing greater tonal adjustment potential.

    Source
  • Owners report the Joyo has a better noise floor compared to older MXR and Boss GE-7 models, despite being more affordable.

    Source
  • While the Caline has more bands, the precision and extra boost/cut of the Joyo make it a preferred choice for those focusing on significant tonal shaping rather than fine-tuning.

    Source

User experience

  • A new Joyo user was impressed by the pedal's quality, considering retaining it instead of returning, indicating high satisfaction despite initial skepticism.

    Source
  • Owners of the Joyo 6 Band EQ appreciate its minimal noise introduction, especially vital for those with treble-heavy sounds and setups.

    Source
  • One owner noted a dimmer slider light compared to others, which could be a minor annoyance for some users.

    Source
  • Owners report minimal noise addition unless sliders are near maximum, where slight buzzing can occur, typical of EQ pedals.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • Joyo pedals are praised for their unexpectedly solid build and aesthetic appeal, defying initial expectations of being low-quality.

    Source
  • The Joyo 6 Band EQ lacks a gain/volume slider, potentially limiting its use as a master volume or boost without external adjustments.

    Source
  • The Joyo EQ is true bypass, a feature not commonly found in low-cost EQ pedals, making it a preferred choice over the MXR 6 Band EQ for some users.

    Source
  • The pedal's sliders illuminate when active, adding a visual cue for use in darker settings.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Users experimenting with a Big Muff find placing a Tube Screamer before it maintains the Muff's character while enhancing mids.

    Source
  • For players needing precision, the smaller form factor of the Joyo is advantageous for cramped pedalboards despite having fewer EQ bands than the Caline.

    Source
  • Placing the EQ first in the signal chain can add new tonal characteristics to pickups, while placing it after drive pedals allows for tonal tweaking.

    Source
  • Boosting the 200, 400, and 800 Hz sliders enhances the fullness of a Strat's sound, while adjusting outer frequencies balances the overall tone.

    Source

Build quality

  • The Joyo 6 Band EQ features a solid metal casing, comparable in weight to a Boss pedal, and can withstand drops with minor scuffs.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Using paint stripper allows stripping the pedal's paint, enabling customization through repainting or adding decals.

Perfect for my uses, great price

Since the Orange amps Terror line to not have an equalizer (just a tone knob), this is a mainstay on my board. Stays on all the time to dial in the perfect tone. Could be used as a boost as some have mentioned, but it has a very harsh switch (at least mine does) which causes a large pop when you engage and disengage it. Great for the price and for my use! Just started noticing that is is fairly noisy however, it only just started getting bad after about 3 months of use, but its only noticeable when there is silence from your guitar, otherwise it isnt loud enough that you hear it while you play.

Nice EQ pedal

To be fair it is not the best pedal out there, but it is useful when it comes to adjusting some minor settings to a guitar which doesn't really needs it and boosting, however it has very nice definition. Never had any problem, a really nice pedal.

Bad quality electronics

Stopped working properly after about a couple weeks of using it. Now constantly puts a harsh clipping distortion on my guitar at any eq setting.

marcelo_balza

Very rare... I bought this pedal a couple of years ago and I never had any problem.

jacobbaldwinmusic

Not too bad.

This pedal could definitely be better, but it could be much worse. I really use this as a boost more than anything. It tends to cause some feedback.

Increadible

It was a surprise for me. It´s increadible.

Just as great as more expensive eq pedals -and true bypass.
