Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Danelectro DJ-14 Fish & Chips 7 Band EQ.

Build quality

  • The pedal is mostly plastic, including slides and on/off button, with a metal plate only at the bottom for support.

    Source

    Source
  • Some users have successfully gigged with it for months, finding it more robust than expected, contrary to general durability concerns.

Setup and maintenance

  • In and out jacks positioned on the top back can be inconvenient for 90-degree patch cables.

    Source
  • Users suggest considering the Joyo or Caline 10 band EQs for a more durable and precise alternative.

Solid EQ

I bought this expecting something along the lines of the Behringer EQ700, but this is a great graphic EQ that I find to be much less noisy than similarly-priced graphic EQs. My only complaint is that the enclosure and the stomp switch are plastic.

Great Deal for the Money

Bought for $15 as my first EQ. Didn't really know how to use it, but figured it out easily with help from a friend. Makes my tone sound a lot thicker. Works well with my Gibson GA-18, since the only option on it is a tone knob.

Great, cheap EQ

This EQ from Danelectro is really great. The looks are kind of 'special'. You like it or hate it. The sound you must love for the price. It is a really cheap pedal (about €30) and it really clears the job well. Some extra mids for a boost? You got it!

Cheap but not nasty!

Beautiful EQ, helps me find a warm tone - and found second hand!

Lmao. Since when is this a con? It depends. Sometimes you may need bypass, sometimes you may need buffer.
