  • The Marshall 1936 can run in stereo, though it requires a stereo power amp to fully utilize this feature.

    Source

    Source
  • The 1936 is ideal for rehearsals and shows with limited space, providing reliable performance in compact settings.

    Source
  • While stock MX212AR cabs are adequate for home use, gigging musicians often replace the speakers to ensure they cut through in live band settings.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Marshall 1936 cabinets frequently appear on the used market for £150-£200, making them an affordable long-term investment.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Swapping in Swamp Thang speakers transforms the Marshall 1936 into a powerful cabinet with enhanced sound quality.

    Source
  • Swapping stock Seventy 80 speakers for Celestion Vintage 30s in the MX212AR significantly enhances sound quality, adding depth and cutting through mixes better.

    Source

Build quality

  • The Marshall MX212AR and ORI212A cabinets use MDF for construction, which some owners note can result in a "dead" or "lifeless" tonal quality compared to plywood cabs.

Great 2x12 Cab

Been a great cabinet. Sounds boomy enough and will keep up with a quadi at sane volume levels. Not as much throw as a 4x12 though.

jahn_ruud

According to Harvey's bandmates, "We used Marshall 4x12s in the studio. John's live head is a Marshall JCM 800, while I go with the Blue Angel. John and I both tour with Marshall 2x12 cabinets, which are positioned in front of us, pointing back towards the band. Our bandmates would disagree, but our stage volume is relatively modest."
