Extremely hollow midrange, and the top-end brightness just dies. AVOID!

You guys already know that I'm a big fan of tube amps, and software amp sims have constantly let me down time and again. Having said that, I wanted to try and see if I could find a software amp sim that would blend nicely with my Synergy Friedman HBE preamp module.

So, naturally, people recommended that I try out a Bogner Uberschall amp to blend its deep-sounding characteristic with the mid-focused Friedman HBE.

Oh my god, was it a BIG mistake. To start, don't even bother with the regular Burger amp sim - it sounds way too flubby in the low-end, and doesn't have a lot of gain on tap for metal tones.

But wait, it gets worse - the Double Burger has no midrange frequencies AT ALL! No matter how hard I tried to bring the midrange back to life, it was no use - diming the midrange didn't even do jack, and using a mid-focused cab IR such as an Ownhammer Diezel cab IR with Eminence Governor's only made the amp tone sound extremely hollow. Reason being? THERE'S NO MIDRANGE FREQUENCIES FOR THE CAB IR TO TURN UP! The midrange frequencies just aren't there! You might as well remove the midrange knob and throw it right out the window, 'cause that's how useful the Mid knob is.

And the top-end frequencies, don't even get me started...no matter how hard I cranked up the treble and presence, the amp tone sounded extremely dark.

You know, Mikko makes some amazing cab IR's such as the MARS PR-H75, MEGA Djent and even the Zilla cab IR. However, this piece of crap does NOT deserve the ML Sound Lab badge! It's ridiculous to see how Mikko has the guts to charge people for this garbage amp sim! At this point, it's confirmed in my mind that Mikko just Line 6'd the hell out of this amp sim.

If you want BETTER alternatives for software amp sims, check out Amplitube amp sims or the Line 6 Helix Native. They'll still sound digital and are more pricey; however, they'll be FAR superior compared to this pathetic excuse of an amp sim. And if you're looking for freeware options, give the Ignite Amps Emissary a try. Out of all freeware amp sims, that's the ONLY amp sim that has impressed me thus far.

Amped Burger? More like Stale Burger! Now I'm starting to understand why people who use Uberschall's usually stick with the real tube amps instead of amp sim counterparts.
