Blackstar Amplification was founded in 2004 by four former Marshall employees — Bruce Keir, Ian Robinson, Paul Hayhoe, and Richard Frost — who brought over 50 years of combined amplifier engineering experience to the venture. After roughly two and a half years of research and development conducted out of a garden shed in Northampton, England, the company made its public debut at the Musikmesse Frankfurt trade show in 2007.
