Line6 Helix Native - Reviewed

admiralbumblebee.com

Line 6 Helix Native offers a comprehensive suite of amp simulations and effects, delivering high-quality tones with impressive flexibility. It excels in providing a wide array of guitar and bass amp models, many of which nail the authentic sound and feel of their real-world counterparts. The integration with Helix hardware is seamless, making it a powerful tool for studio and stage use. However, the software isn't without flaws; the GUI is sluggish, third-party impulse loading is cumbersome, and it lacks a built-in tuner. Despite these issues, it stands out as a versatile and valuable tool for diverse musical styles.

Line 6 Helix Native

soundonsound.com

Line 6 Helix Native impresses with its comprehensive virtual guitar rig, offering top-tier sound quality that rivals its hardware counterpart. The integration between software and hardware is seamless, making it an attractive option for those deterred by the cost of the physical Helix units. However, the software's depth may initially overwhelm some users, and requires a capable host system to handle latency for real-time tracking. Despite these minor drawbacks, Helix Native delivers a rich array of sonic possibilities, making it a sound investment for any studio guitarist.

Review – Line 6 Helix Native | The Budget Guitarist

budgetguitarist.com

Line 6 Helix Native offers impressive sound quality, closely emulating real tube amps, and is reasonably priced, especially for existing Helix hardware owners. While it’s CPU-friendly, the presets can be hit-or-miss, requiring users to spend time fine-tuning settings for optimal results. A major drawback is a prevalent issue with trial presets not working, which hasn't been resolved, potentially frustrating new users. Despite these flaws, Helix Native is a powerful tool for those willing to delve into its complexities.

Amazing Amp Sim + Pedalboard

I use this for most of my guitar sounds and use a lot of the effects for my soft synths. Its very nice to have a load of amps and pedals all in one plugin.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Run the Atomika by Cherry Audio through a fuzz. It's the Cyberpunk 2077 sound.

One of the Best Amp and Effects Modelers on the Market

This is, without a doubt, one of the best amp and effects modelers available, delivering extremely high sound fidelity and a wide variety of tones. For me, the main drawback is the limited number of effects that can be added to the signal chain, which makes me use this plugin more for specific cases, particularly to take advantage of the feedback pedal.

Good to Have in Your Bag of Tricks

I had an HX Stomp for a solid year, and I loved it. Naturally, Helix Native is the exact same thing, just in a plugin form. Some of the amp sims leave something to be desired, but the sheer amount of effects included make it worth the price (also I paid $99 for this because I owned an HX Stomp, but I would absolutely never pay $300 for this). If I have one major complaint, it's that you can't run this as a standalone application. Hoping for this in the future.
