Description
Immerse yourself in the storied legacy of rock with the Softube Marshall Plexi Super Lead 1959 plugin, a meticulously component-modeled recreation of the iconic amplifier that has powered legends like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Angus Young. Painstakingly developed from Marshall’s own vintage 1967 Plexi, this plugin goes beyond mere simulation to deliver an authentic, responsive experience that echoes the raw power and expressive dynamics of its hardware counterpart.
In collaboration with the renowned engineer Tony Platt, known for his work with AC/DC, Softube has captured the essence of the legendary sound by recording cabinet responses at Kore Studios, London. With mic selections and placements expertly curated by Platt, this amp simulator plugin ensures your riffs resonate with the same vitality and clarity as the classics.
The plugin offers a comprehensive setup, featuring a versatile channel strip with three distinctive microphone combinations—FET, Valve, and Dynamic—allowing you to tailor your mix-ready tone to perfection. Each mic setup includes individual volume and pan controls, offering a level of precision that transforms your digital studio into a world-class recording environment. Whether you seek a gritty blues growl or a searing rock anthem scream, the Plexi Super Lead 1959 plugin provides the tonal palette to fuel your creative journey.

Desert Island Guitar Amp Simulator
I love it because it's medium/low gain sound is so rich and responsive to the guitars volume pot, I think it's one of the best amp sims out there, period. Never played the real thing but I believe Softube and Marshall made an effort to replicate a very specific "golden unit" from Marshall's vault.
This plugin just delivers amazing results in a very simple yet very flexible plugin, featuring the classic non master volume amp section with jumpable inputs and 3 "channel strips" to power up your tone, each with it's own unique character: VALVE, FET, DYNAMIC and OFF.
Each of the 3 modes feature a different mic preamp topology with two corresponding speaker microphones and one room microphone (for some air), and some handy high and low cut filters on the main out. Each microphone has independent volume and pan. One stop shop for great guitar tone!
I can easily enjoy some of the best Hendrix single coil tones I ever heard, as well as some Mark Knopfler Humbucker tone (seriously tasty Brothers in Arms tone*), some Jimmy Page tones... The resemblance to the original records is uncanny. I bought it with crazy 90% discount via the plugin suite that's included with the UAD Volt 276 interface, what an amazing value! Sounds so good that I never used other IR's with it.
If I could only have one Amp Sim, it would most likely be this one.
Highly recommend!

Best of the best!
I have tried Softube's Marshall 59 Plexi Super Lead emulation against various competitors products (Nembrini MRH159 V2 / Amplitube S100 / Amplitube JH Gold / Guitar Rig Pro 6 Plex/ Overloud TH-U Plexi / Bias Amp 2 69 Super Lead).
None of them sound as good as Softube's 59 Plexi Super Lead. The only other one that came within sniffing distance was the Nembrini MRH159. Amplitube's offerings were a distant third.
Hands down, this is the best early Marshall emulation out there.

Lenny Kravitz utilizes multiple Marshall Plexi Super Lead 1959 reissues, each equipped with effects loops, as part of his main high-gain rig. These are paired with several 4x12 Green and Creamback slanted cabinets. Note: while the listing mentions Softube, Kravitz's setup involves actual Plexi amplifiers. (Source: The Music)
