Description

Dark Light is a dual reverb featuring both Dark Star and Sunlight. With all the routing options you could want, including separate stereo, parallel mono, and series mono, Dark Light takes Dark Star’s dark pitch shifted, delayed, and bit crushed reverb voices and Sunlight’s bright modulated, comb filtered, and bandpassed reverb voices and combines them into one massive sound to take your time and drift away in. Each pedal maintains its core sound and control set, then expands from there.

Additional Controls

Wet and Dry volumes for each side (replacing the previous Mix control)

Spread to set the stereo spread, allowing Dark Star and Sunlight to blend into each other’s outputs

Hold switch to create indefinite reverb trails while the pedal is engaged

Hold toggle to choose between holding Dark Star, Sunlight, or both

Exp jack to control any combination of Ctrl 1, Ctrl 2, Decay, Decay, Rate, Depth, or Input with an external expression controller

Independent In and Out routing for each pedal, with automatic parallel mono when plugging into only one

Soft-touch Bypass footswitches for true bypass and minimal switch noise

The Dark Light manual is forthcoming as we finalize the design - check back here for more details in the future.

Requires 9V DC center negative 2.1mm jack power supply capable of 150mA (not included).

    Source
  • The Dark Star's delay mode can achieve a moderately subtle delay-verb sound, suitable for 90’s shoegaze and dream pop styles.

    Source
  • The Dark Light lacks an alt switch for Sunlight, but an expression pedal can replicate and expand upon this functionality.

    Source
  • The trails feature can be inconsistent, with users reporting that turning off one side does not always disable it entirely.

    Source

User experience

    Source
  • The Dark Light combines elements of the Sunlight and Dark Star in one enclosure, offering a cost-effective choice for those interested in both sounds.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Dark Light pedal has been used effectively beyond guitars, with plans to connect it to a stereo interface for broader desktop applications.

    Source
  • The DarkLight pedal excels when used as its own instrument for creating soundscapes, particularly in recordings or shows with sophisticated sound setups.

    Source
  • Running the Dark Star into distortion and back into Sunlight creates a unique ambient soundscape that appeals to those seeking atmospheric tones.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Despite using different power supplies like the Voodoo Labs ISO 5 and Pedal Power 3 Plus, noise persists, suggesting a design-related issue.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors Dark Light review on pedal-of-the-day.com

pedal-of-the-day.com

Old Blood Noise Endeavors' Dark Light Dual Reverb is a thrilling addition for ambient enthusiasts, merging the Dark Star Pad Reverb and Sunlight Dynamic Reverb into a single powerhouse. Its versatile routing options and control enhancements allow for a rich sound palette, making it an exciting tool for creative exploration. However, some may find its complexity overwhelming, and the absence of a straightforward mix control might frustrate users seeking simplicity. Overall, while it excels in sound design and versatility, it may not be for everyone, particularly those who favor straightforward setups.

Old Blood Noise Dark Light Stereo Reverb | Delicious Audio

delicious-audio.com

Old Blood Noise Endeavors' Dark Light is a beautifully designed stereo reverb pedal that merges the deep, dark tones of the Dark Star with the bright, shimmering effects of Sunlight. The pedal excels in its versatility, offering various routing options and controls that allow for a rich, immersive sound experience. However, the complexity of controls may overwhelm some users, and its size could be a concern for pedalboard real estate. Still, for those seeking expansive soundscapes, the Dark Light delivers a massive auditory palette that is hard to resist.
