“They’re the all-in-one stop for what I'm looking for”: Seymour Duncan debuts signature Blackouts for Trivium’s Corey Beaulieu, treating its active metal humbucker to a distinct sonic twist | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Seymour Duncan's Corey Beaulieu Custom Blackouts redefine active pickups with their aggressive EQ voicing, designed for chugging riffs and intricate leads. Users will appreciate the pronounced clarity and balanced sound that makes them versatile for both high gain and clean tones. However, while they excel in performance, the price point—starting at $145 for singles and $290 for a six-string set—might deter budget-conscious musicians. Overall, these pickups are a solid choice for those seeking to elevate their tone, but be prepared to invest for the quality.

In his guitars, Corey has a custom set of blackouts. He designed these with Duncan. Corey states he has played blackouts since they were just prototypes in 05. He would always use a 6 band eq to get rid of unwanted tonal frequencies the pickups created. For his custom set, he incorporated the settings of the 6 band to get the desired tone from the pickups alone
