The Studioecho AOS 191 Tape Delay by Tesla

The Tesla Studioecho AOS 191 is a vintage analog tape echo and reverb effects processor made in Czechoslovakia in the early 1980s by the well‑known Tesla Radio Plant one of the Czech/Eastern Bloc’s major electronics manufacturers of the time. It uses a continuous tape loop system to produce natural tape delay echoes and ambience, giving a warm and organic sound characteristic of tape‑based effects units from that era. The unit was considered one of the best modular tape echo devices produced behind the Iron Curtain and was built to be robust and reliable. It features selectable delay times and controls for echo and hall (reverb) effects, making it useful for studio outboard gear, instruments or live processing. Because it was designed before digital delays became widespread, the AOS‑191’s sound has a distinct analog flavour, with tape saturation and modulation artifacts that many vintage gear enthusiasts still seek today. Genuine units are rare on the market now and are mainly found through collectors or second‑hand listings.
