Critic Reviews

Softube Vintage Amp Room software

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

Softube's Vintage Amp Room offers a refreshing simplicity with its focus on delivering classic amp sounds without the clutter of extensive options. Featuring three iconic amps—a Marshall JCM800, Fender Twin, and Vox AC30—in a single room, it excels in authentic sound reproduction. However, its dated graphics and unusual preset handling might deter some users seeking modern interface designs. Despite its quirks and high price, the sound quality remains exceptional, making it a favorite for those who prioritize tone over features. If you can overlook its visual and functional idiosyncrasies, it's a compelling choice for vintage tone enthusiasts.

Softube Vintage Amp Room

soundonsound.com

Softube Vintage Amp Room offers a lean yet authentic approach to amp modeling, focusing on just three classic amp sounds reminiscent of Marshall, Fender, and Vox. Praised for its simplicity and realism, it captures the essence of recording an amp in a studio. However, its high price could be a drawback unless used regularly, and its lack of built-in effects means you’ll need additional pedals or plugins for a complete sound. Despite these limitations, it remains an excellent choice for those seeking classic tones without the clutter of unnecessary features.

Yet to prove useful

Yet to prove useful in traditional applications & I've given it a shot several times. Remains to be seen how I might flip it.

oh man, I have the original, native VST vintage amp room and actually really like it for a lot of stuff... just not guitar so much.... the models sound nice but not RIGHT. Other than the twin I've had or have the other 2 amps. But its not like I haven't played a shit ton of twins. I think the twin is actually the clsoest and its still weird sounding for some reason. usually softtube is way better at the whole plugin thing, dunno what went wrong on this one! But since you paid for it already try using it for FX sends as a delay/reverb treatment to shape those sounds to really sit in the background and have some character

i like a lot of Sortube as well. I just haven't been able to get anything useable outta this yet. I've tried several times but I'm now I'm thinkin' about non-intended uses & your suggestion sound like a fun place to start! I can see that workin'
