The Echo Hall PLANET is a hand-made vintage Tape Delay made in the DDR by VEB Volkseigener Betrieb

The Echo Hall PLANET is a hand-made vintage tape delay effect unit built as a one-off (“Unikat”) in 1986 in what was then East Germany. It captures the classic tape echo sound warm, organic repeats with natural tape coloration and modulation that distinguish it from later solid-state or digital delays. Unlike mass-produced pedals or rack units, this device was custom-constructed, making it extremely rare and sought after by collectors and vintage effects enthusiasts. The tape mechanism stores and replayed delayed signals using magnetic tape, giving it that characteristically rich, slightly imperfect echo that producers and artists love. Since it was built as a unique unit rather than a commercial production model, detailed technical specs are sparse and each existing unit may differ slightly. These types of tape delay devices embody the analogue charm and sonic anomalies that engineers and musicians pursue for creative sound design in both studio and live settings.
