Description

The VTE‑1600 Tape Machine made in Japan by Vocu

The Vocu VTE‑1600 is a classic compact analog tape echo/delay unit designed to bring warm, natural tape echo tones to both studio and live setups.
Unlike digital delays, it uses a free‑running tape mechanism with minimal electronic circuitry to deliver rich, clear repeats with low noise and minimal wow and flutter, though a dedicated Flutter control lets you dial in tape‑machine warble when desired.
Its echo times reach up to about 1600 ms, and controls for input level, echo level, repeat (feedback), and dry/wet mix make shaping your delay easy and musical.
The unit accepts instrument, mic, or line‑level signals and includes multiple outputs and mode options for flexible routing. Built with a compact footprint roughly the size of two standard pedals, it’s especially attractive for guitarists and producers who want genuine tape echo without a bulky rack unit.
Though no longer in production, VTE‑1600 remains sought after by tone purists and tape echo enthusiasts for its organic sound and tactile controls.
